Scott Landis Named Chair of Landis Supermarket

The Landis Family and the grocer’s board of directors named Scott Landis chairman of the board, transitioning leadership of the family-owned independent to the third generation of family members.

“Our company has been actively working towards this goal for the past several years,” said Dave Landis, retiring chairman of Landis Supermarket. “The third generation has worked hard, learning the business, defining their current roles and is unified in support of each other. As the new chairman, Scott will have the ability to serve the company as a whole, representing the family ownership as well as working with the operations team.”

Scott Landis has been working in the family business since 1978 in a wide variety of positions – ranging from customer service and marketing, to store manager, human resources, and community relations.

“The third generation is committed to unity by encouraging, respecting and listening to one another personally and professionally,” said Scott Landis. “It’s a privilege and honor to work among family that you have grown-up with. In that regard, we know each other quite well. We appreciate and encourage our strengths while holding each other accountable to the values that define our culture. Equally, we have a high respect for the second generation's desire for this business to remain a family business. We recognize the awesome responsibility of acting as good stewards of a company legacy that has significant meaning to our employees and the surrounding communities we serve. ”

In his new role, Scott Landis will lead the board in setting strategic direction and long-term planning while continuing his role on the operations team with day to day responsibilities in key human resource matters, marketing initiatives and community relations. “Scott understands the unique value Landis Supermarket provides to its local communities and the impact it has on individual lives,” said Dave Landis. “His years of experience in the business will help capture and shape new opportunities with the goal of strengthening the Landis Supermarket brand by continuing to build relationships with the surrounding communities, local non-profit organizations and customers alike.”

Dave Landis will continue to actively serve on the Landis board, as well as assisting with special projects and community relations as a senior advisor.

The newest generation of leadership is still committed to remaining an independent business. “We see this as a distinct advantage in our marketplace,” said Scott Landis. “Being deeply connected to our communities while having long standing partnerships with local vendors makes shopping Landis Supermarket a unique and distinctive experience for our customers. Landis Supermarket seeks to excel in areas few competitors can match including the legendary Mrs. Benner’s made-from-scratch bakery items as well as Lancaster County seasonal produce delivered direct to each store. From an ever-increasing selection of natural and organic items to the famous Sadie’s Food Court Buffet, Landis Supermarket has a 74 year tradition of providing top quality, great tasting food and superior customer service.”

Road Telford, Pa.-based Landis operates four local supermarkets in the Pennsylvania towns of Telford, Perkasie, Schwenksville and Vernfield.
