Schnucks and Bridgeton Warehouse Teamsters Reach Early Agreement

Bargaining teams for Schnuck Markets Inc. and Teamsters Local 688 have reached a tentative agreement covering 102 Schnucks teammates at its Bridgeton, Mo., warehouse. The five-year contract proposal was negotiated four months in advance of the current contract’s scheduled July 9, 2017 expiration date.

Highlights of the proposal, which has been recommended for passage by Local 688 leadership, include:

  • An early retirement incentive (buyout) for up to 50 teammates
  • Increases in company-paid healthcare benefit contributions over the term
  • Increases in company-paid retiree healthcare contributions over the term
  • Maintain company-paid pension fund contributions
  • 401(k) with a new dollar for dollar match by the company up to 4 percent

In addition, Local 688 has agreed to withdraw its boycott of Schnucks stores that it launched last year, and to withdraw all grievances and labor charges associated with the St. Louis-based retailer’s warehouse transition.

A ratification vote has been set for noon on Monday, March 20, at Teamsters Local 688’s union hall.

The third-generation, family-owned Schnuck Markets operates 100 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa, and employs 14,000.
