Save Mart Installs Predictive Analysis Software

MODESTO, Calif. -- Save Mart Supermarkets here added a new weapon to its competitive arsenal -- predictive analytics software, developed to tightly control controlling category management and keep profit margins in line.

The system is the ShowCase Suite, a business intelligence and data mining solution from Chicago. Ill-based SPSS, for organizations using the IBM eServer iSeries (AS/400) computing platform, a solution that has quickly evolved into a key business tool supporting strategic and tactical business decisions across Save Mart's operations.

Using SPSS' ShowCase Suite, the 120-store chain in Southern California can fully assess the dynamics of each unit's performance and can make the right decisions on the inventory, pricing, and promotional activities that will benefit each store.
