Save Mart to Close Vacaville Distribution Center

Save Mart Supermarkets is planning to close its distribution center in Vacaville, Calif., as it looks to consolidate its supply chain.

Operations at the facility will cease in the fall, with final deliveries taking place in September, said Nannette Miranda, the retailer’s public relations manager. Its operations will consolidate into Super Store Industries, the retailer’s distribution partner, and the 323 employees at the center all will be offered severance packages.

The nearly 850,000-square-foot facility, which served as one of the retailer’s dry grocery warehouses, is one of three Save Mart distribution centers, with the other two in Roseville and Merced. Currently, the retailer is working with the city of Vacaville to find a new tenant.

Headquartered in Modesto, Calif., Save Mart operates 211 traditional and price impact stores under the banners of Save Mart, Lucky, FoodMaxx, S-Mart Foods and Maxx Value Foods.
