Sam’s Club Deploys Heath-screening Stations


Sam’s Club has joined forces with health technology company Higi to introduce free, self-service health-screening stations at most of the warehouse retailer’s locations with a pharmacy – a rollout to 622 locations.

The screening stations can assess a user’s blood pressure, pulse, weight and body mass index (BMI), as well as permit users to track their health information over time and share it with others via an online platform that can aggregate data from more than 80 health devices, activity trackers and apps to provide a holistic view of their state of health.

“We believe understanding and tracking your personal biometric data is key to living a healthy life, so we make it as easy as possible for people to do just that with our unique screening technology and digital platforms that interface with leading health devices, fitness trackers or apps that people are already using,” explained Jeff Bennett, CEO of Chicago-based Higi.

The rollout augments Sam’s Club’s existing monthly free health-screening program offered from January through October to both members and the public. In particular, the introduction of the screening stations coincides with the timing of the retailer’s Healthy at Heart screening, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all locations with a pharmacy, while supplies last. The screening, valued at up to $150, will include tests to measure total cholesterol, HDL (“good” cholesterol), blood pressure, body fat percentage, glucose, and, at select locations, vision and hearing.
