Salvation Army Bell Ringers Start Early at Spartan Banners
Bell ringers for the Salvation Army got a head start this year, as the charitable organizations annual Red Kettle Campaign launched in D&W Fresh Markets, Family Fare, Felpausch, and Glen’s Markets locations this past Friday, Nov. 14, a week earlier than normal.
The early start will give the Salvation Army more time to try to meet the needs of households in the Michigan area that could use assistance during the holiday season.
The Spartan Stores’ banners have a longstanding relationship with the Salvation Army, hosting the bell ringers year after year in order to raise funds for families in need of assistance during the holiday season. For the fourth consecutive year, the company has welcomed ringers into stores to make it more comfortable for them and easier for customers to make a donation.
“For more than a century, Salvation Army bell ringers have been a familiar presence during holiday shopping,” said Jeanne Norcross, Spartan Stores’ spokeswoman. “We want to provide them the opportunity to raise the necessary funds to help those who are less fortunate in our communities, especially now when the needs are even greater.”
