Safeway Set to Open 4th Mountain View Store
Safeway is set to take over a 28,100-square-foot vacant Fresh & Easy store in Monta Loma Plaza in Mountain View, Calif., with a grand opening slated for late 2016.
“We are excited to open a fourth location in Mountain View and create over 100 new jobs,” said Tom Schwilke, president of Safeway's Northern California division.
In addition to Mountain View, the Pleasanton, Calif.-based Safeway, which is a division of the Albertsons Cos., has four more new stores on tap – ranging from 23,000 to 72,000 square feet – in its home marketing turf this year in: Fairmont Shopping Center, Pacifica; The Orchards, Walnut Creek; The Shops at the Ridge, Oakland; and Willow Glen Village, San Jose.

Safeway’s grocery delivery program offers one-hour delivery windows, a “Shop By History” feature that saves all previously purchased items for easy repeat purchasing, and free delivery on the first order.

The wine selection includes hundreds of varietals, including local options from the South Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains. The store will also offer an assortment of liquor, as well as craft and locally brewed beers. Shoppers who purchase any six bottles of wine and or liquor will save an additional 10 percent.
