Raley’s to Build New Flagship Store in Truckee

Raley’s is planning to open a new, 35,000-square-foot flagship store in Truckee, Calif., which will reside inside a new retail center planned by the retailer. The expansion marks the grocer’s fourth in a new market during the past nine months.

Raley’s new flagship store will provide a full-service experience with an extensive assortment of fresh, healthful and high-quality food, including natural and organic offerings. Emphasis will be on specialty services, including restaurant-quality grab-and-go options. Additionally, the store will incorporate leading energy conservation and water management technology.

Along with the store, the first phase of the center will include an additional 15,000 feet of retail space. The new space will create an estimated 140 jobs to the local community.

“As we move forward on our journey of health and wellness, Truckee is an important location to enhance our vision,” said Michael Teel, president, CEO and owner, Raley’s. “We are looking forward to serving the Truckee community with an exceptional shopping and food experience, all four seasons of the year.”

Subject to the town’s approval, construction on the new retail center should begin in late 2017, with a targeted completion of mid-2018. It will be designed with natural wood elements and inspired by lodge-style architecture to fit the Truckee community.

Raley’s, a privately owned, family-operated supermarket chain with headquarters in West Sacramento, Calif., operates 121 stores in Northern California and Nevada under four banners: Raley’s Supermarkets, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source.
