Queens, N.Y., Key Food Makes ‘Fresh’ Start

Food Stores Co-operative Inc., a chain of independently owned and operated grocery stores, will celebrate the grand opening of its newest Key Fresh & Natural location in the Queens, N.Y., neighborhood of Ozone Park on Oct. 11. With local and state officials and company executives slated to attend, the event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

“Our growth effort includes expanding the banners in our supermarket family,” said Key Food VP of Business Development and Chief Customer Officer Gino Palummo, adding that store owner Joe Doleh “is not only opening his fifth store with us, but he has [also] chosen to bring a Key Fresh & Natural into the community.”

The former Met Food will retain the same owner, staff and level of customer service, as well as continuing to offer a high-quality meat department, fresh produce, delivery service and ATM access.

“We have decided to convert this store to a Key Fresh & Natural to be able offer our customers better prices, higher quality and greater selection, all while maintaining the same great staff and service our customers are used to,” explained Doleh.

There are now a total of eight Key Food Fresh & Natural stores, according to the Staten Island, N.Y.-based company.
