Publix Launches Web Site for Event Planning

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Armed with insights from its successful Aprons program and other convenience-focused initiatives, Publix Super Markets here has taken the next step by launching an online event planning Web site for shoppers.

The Web site, www.publix.com/entertaining, offers suggestions for planning a variety of events, from a small intimate gathering to a grand wedding.

It has four main sections:
--Party Basics, a step-by-step guide on planning a party, from selecting the invitations to proposing a toast.
-- Plan an Event & Menu, with party themes and suggested menus, decorations, and related activities. An interactive My Planning List allows customers to create and save their menus and plans. They can give their printed lists to the store to place the order, or use it as a guide when calling in the order.
-- Plan a Menu, which displays all products by serving course.
-- Apron's Event Planning, a premier in-store service available at select Publix stores that offers customers the chance to meet with an event planning specialist for a personal consultation, place an event order, allow Publix to shop for them, and pick up their order, all in one stop.

Publix is privately owned and operated by its 143,000 employees, with 2006 sales of $21.7 billion. Publix operates 918 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.
