Publix, Instacart to Pilot Miami-area Grocery Delivery

Publix Super Markets will begin piloting a grocery delivery service with Instacart in select areas of Miami on July 12. Instacart will receive, fulfill and deliver customers’ orders across 37 ZIP codes, from Hallandale Beach to South Miami.

“We know this service is something our customers are interested in, and we’re excited to learn more as we move forward with this pilot,” said Kevin Murphy, SVP of retail operations at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix, which operates 1,118 stores in Alabama, Florida, Gerogia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. “We chose Instacart because we believe the experience they provide aligns well with the needs of our company, associates and customers.”

“We want to connect our users with the highest caliber of retailers, and this collaboration with Publix exemplifies that commitment,” noted Apoorva Mehta, founder and CEO of San Francisco-based Instacart, which is rapidly expanding throughout the company, with a recently reported entry into Marin County, Calif, and growing partnerships with Key Food and Food Lion. “Publix and Instacart share a common mission – to get premier-quality food into the hands of as many people as possible.”

Alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, prescriptions and age-restricted items are excluded from purchase at Publix via Instacart. Printed and digital coupons aren’t currently redeemable through the service. All orders must be a minimum of $10, and delivery fees may apply.
