Progressive Grocer to Honor Three Retailers for Tech Prowess
Progressive Grocer will recognize Stop & Shop, Loblaw’s, and Star Super Market & Pharmacy this January for innovative technology implementations the retailers have deployed over the past year.
Awards will be presented during the National retail Federation Convention & Expo, to be held in New York January 15 to 18.
“These retailers are perfect examples of how you can have innovative solutions that drive the business forward,” said Joseph Tarnowski, dir. of integrated media/technology editor for Progressive Grocer. “While their solutions are cutting edge, they still generate real returns.”
The winners and their solutions are:
- Loblaw Cos. Ltd.: Replaced several disparate WMS systems with one overall platform that already generated $5 million in savings to the company.
- Star Super Market & Pharmacy: Deployed a joint front-end POS/pharmacy POS interface to manage both as a single system – a first for the industry.
- Stop & Shop: Transformed its shopper assistant program from a hand-held scanner to a mobile shopping app using shoppers’ smartphones.
Each of the winners will be featured in the Progressive Grocer TECH supplement published January 2012.
