Price Chopper Gives Free Pedometers in Produce Promo
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- During "Earth Day Week" (April 15 through April 2l) shoppers at Price Chopper here can receive a free pedometer for buying five or more fresh produce items.
Produce customers earn one "pedometer point" per fresh fruit or vegetable item purchased during the week, the chain said, with points earned so far printed on the receipt. When the customer earns five points, he or she can show the receipt to any Price Chopper front end or produce employee and get a free Healthy U pedometer, a device that records the number of steps taken while walking or running.
The program runs through Saturday, May 5.
"We want our customers to enjoy the bounties of our environment the Healthy U way: Eat smart. Get moving. Live well," noted Price Chopper public relations manager Barbara L. Page in a statement.
The family-owned Golub Corp. owns and operates more than 115 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Golub's approximately 24,000 associates collectively own 51 percent of the company's privately held stock.
