Portland Grocer Paul Trusiani Dies at Age 81
Paul Trusiani, who opened Paul’s Food Center in Portland, Maine, in 1975, died Saturday, Sept. 5 at age 81.
Trusiani began working in the grocery business when he was 18 as an apprentice meat cutter for First National Stores. After serving in the army, he worked for Hannaford Brothers Co. and Martin’s Foods before deciding to open his own store with his former wife Annamarie Ross Trusiani. He was also a board member of the Associated Grocers of Maine.
Paul’s Food Center has 12-15 employees and his son, Jim Truisiani, indicated that the family has no plan to sell or close the business.
