Piggly Wiggly Expanding Online Shopping Service
Piggly Wiggly is rolling out its online grocery service, “Click’n Shop,” to 27 additional locations across South Carolina and coastal Gerogia. The program gives shoppers the ability to place orders online for pickup at a local Piggly Wiggly store. Introduced in 2008, Click’n Shop was previously offered at just 10 stores in those areas.
“We’ve really seen this program blossom and draw a loyal fan base since it was introduced,” noted David Schools, president and CEO of Charleston, S.C.-based Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. Inc.
Click’n Shop customers can take advantage of weekly deals and coupons, and Greenbax loyalty points can be both earned and redeemed on any order. Shoppers can also indicate a preference for store brand over brand name, which personal shoppers will note as they fill orders. If items are out of stock, personal shoppers will access other area stores to fill customers’ orders or contact customers to inform them that the item isn’t available. A minimum of four hours is needed to fill an order.
The program expansion will begin in Columbia, S.C., with rollouts to the Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Florence, S.C., and Savannah, Ga., markets following through the end of the year. All new Click’n Shop stores will up and running by early December.
“An exciting variety of our customers are using Click’n Shop,” said Bethany Timmes, the service’s operations manager. “We see mothers with small kids, customers who are vacationing and place orders before traveling, young adults strapped for time, and customers with a variety of mobility issues.”
Customers’ first Click’n Shop order is free, after which a $5 fee will be applied to each order. A monthly Click’n Shop membership is also available at participating stores for $15.95, enabling unlimited online shopping. Click’n Shop customers can additionally earn a $5 Click’n Shop voucher for each service referral they bring in.
