Price Cutter Plus

Owner: RPCS Inc.

Neighborhood: Springfield, Mo.

Designer: AWG Design and Décor Source Group

PG’s Favorite Design Element: Designed as a clean, contemporary space, Price Cutter Plus’ recent remodel deployed a series of natural materials such as woods, stones and metals, as well as the use of vibrant colors, which, enhanced by varying light levels, offers a warm, inviting atmosphere for its customers.

Most Progressive Features

The produce department’s wall covering -- which depicts rows in a field -- offset by both tracking and wall wash lighting, highlights the product and enhances the store’s nature theme. The band of warm wood on the soffit, underscored by a vibrant blue, unifies the fresh deli departments, while the wood and metal wall treatment along with the stripe of mosaic tile completes the design.

The clean white selling stage of the meat department presents the product as a focal point, while the thermal-formed white panels create movement across the service area.

The dairy department continues the use of the vibrant blue, and incorporates silver lettering to give an overall “cool” feeling. The bakery department features warm wood tones with a floor pattern that calls attention to the space, and an angled soffit over the low-profile shelving makes the department feel larger.

The vibrant blue color is accompanied by a silver, three-dimensional waving band in the pharmacy, while the liquor department is enclosed by walls treated with a ledge stone appearance on its wall covering, offering a sophisticated wine cellar feel.

Hot Trends

The addition of the Chef’s Kiosk, a place for cooking demos, is unique to the store, with contemporary images of a spatula, whisk and spoon directing shoppers to the space.
