PG Launches Commodity Board Retail Leadership Awards

Progressive Grocer is currently accepting applications from commodity boards that have made significant advancements and innovations in retail marketing and promotional campaigns launched in U.S. supermarkets between Jan. 1, 2010, and May 21, 2011.

PG’s Commodity Board Retail Leadership Awards application and nomination form is available here. Award winners will be selected based on their ability to effectively highlight how their retail campaigns and related consumer outreach efforts have positively impacted sales of their particular commodities or products in U.S. supermarkets (chains and independents). There is no cost to enter the competition. All entrants must complete an official online application.

A PG staff member will personally contact all award winners in late July 2011.

Judging & Evaluation Criteria

After each entry is screened for compliance with the entry requirements, a panel of judges will review, evaluate and base their selections on the applicant’s ability to effectively highlight how their retail campaigns and related consumer outreach efforts have positively impacted retail sales of their particular products. Judges retain the right to reclassify entries from one category to another or to select only components of the submission for recognition.

The entries will be judged on a points system based on the following criteria:

• Sales performance
• Overall innovation
• Retailer support and development
• Promotional elements
• Consumer outreach

Complete Commodity Board Retail Leadership Award entry details are available here

All entries must be clearly and concisely explained in a comprehensive essay, submitted in a Microsoft Word document of 1,000 words or fewer. The synopsis must include examples of all elements outlined above that played a key role in your commodity board’s retail campaign between Jan. 1, 2010, and June 1, 2011. Entries lacking all specified criteria will not be eligible for consideration.

Should your submission be chosen for recognition, the essay submitted with your application will comprise the basis of a write-up discussing your winning program that will appear in the September 2011 issue of Progressive Grocer.

In the event application information includes retailer-specific names/information, Progressive Grocer will NOT reveal or publish the names of the supermarket chains/companies/executives cited in your abstract unless given express permission in advance to do so by each applicant.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, contact Robert Kuwada at [email protected].

Entry deadline is June 30, 2011.
