Peapod Installing Dispatch Management and Delivery Operations Systems
SKOKIE, Ill. -- Ahold Internet grocer subsidiary Peapod has begun installing software that will allow it to track the status of deliveries in real time and better respond to customer queries.
The system, called Cube Route Visibility Service from Toronto-based on-demand logistics provider Cube Route, has already been installed across 13 of Peapod's 15 warehouses. The online retailer expects to be fully operational across the entire organization by the end of the third quarter.
The system enables retailers to track and monitor delivery and field service fleets in real time via a hosted Web-based service, providing a view of driver movement and order status across an entire fleet of vehicles, according to Cube Route. Vehicles can be tracked using any wireless-to-Web device.
"Cube Route is a fundamental infrastructure piece for us," said Thomas Parkinson, c.t.o. and co-founder of Peapod. "Having an engineered plan against which to measure driver performance and access to analytical data means we can continually identify ways to boost our operational performance."
