Pathmark Re-ups With Unicru

CARTERET, N.J. -- Pathmark Stores, Inc. here has extended its contact for the Unicru Hiring Management System for Grocery through June 2008. Since adopting the Portland, Ore.-based company's system in 2004, Pathmark has increased operational efficiencies, as well as quality and productivity of the retailer's more than 22,000 front-line associates in 141 stores.

With Unicru, Pathmark has realized significant operational improvements and savings by:

--Tracking an applicant's referral source to help the retailer spend recruiting dollars wisely;

--Identifying an applicant's eligibility for Work Opportunity Tax Credits, to increase tax credit capture;

--Reducing the number of early quits, in addition to fewer involuntary separations, to improve associate retention and performance; and

--Providing a seamless integration of multiple systems and processes to improve efficiency and concentrate resources on people instead of paper.

"By prescreening each candidate and identifying exactly whom we want to bring in for an interview, Unicru's eased our administrative workload and allowed our managers to devote more time to our customers," noted Pathmark e.v.p. of human resources Bob Joyce in a statement.
