Pathmark Exec Receives Recognition for Hunger Relief Efforts
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Inc. said yesterday that Eric Kanterman, regional v.p. of Pathmark operations, received the Linda Breitstone Spirit Award Oct. 28 at Island Harvest's 15th annual “Taste of the Harvest Celebration.”
The yearly award, named for the founder of Long Island's largest hunger relief organization, goes to a recipient whose passion, determination, and hard work have helped those in need.
Kanterman, who oversees 139 Pathmark stores in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, is a staunch supporter of the organization's goal of reducing food waste on Long Island, as well as participating in Island Harvest's Turkey and Trimming Collection Campaign since 2006.
TV personality and produce expert Produce Pete and representatives from A&P's “Live Better Wellness” team attended the event. Additionally, A&P banners Pathmark and Waldbaum's featured displays of fruits and vegetables at Island Harvest.
Since it was founded in 1992, Island Harvest has become the third-largest food rescue organization in the United States.
Montvale, N.J.-based A&P operates 447 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia under the A&P, Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, and Food Basics banners.
