Pacific Natural Contest Nurtures 'Everyday Chef' Within Each Consumer

An interactive campaign recently launched by Pacific Natural Foods, the “Everyday Chef Challenge,” aims to release consumers’ inner chefs. According to the Tualatin, Ore.-based purveyor of such all-natural and organic food and beverages as soups, broths, nondairy beverages, frozen pizzas, pot pies and ready-to-drink iced coffees, teas and mates, “Everyday Chef is not only about challenging fantastic culinary creatives to make delicious recipes, but also about what inspires [consumers] to cook, the ingredients that feed [their souls] and how to make eating well easier.”

The campaign features five food bloggers competing to whip up unique dishes using specified “secret ingredients” and reporting on their progress through posts, tweets and Facebook updates to drive people to the everydaychefchallenge.com microsite, created by Portland, Ore.-based Web agency Pop Art.

Besides keeping informed through the blogs, consumers can enter one of their own recipes through Oct. 5 for the chance to win a trip to culinary boot camp at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, Calif.; download coupons for the Pacific secret ingredients to help them get started on their own creations; and visit the site’s recipe gallery to vote for their favorite dishes.
