PAC Specialist Joins United Public Policy Team

WASHINGTON - Corie Simmons, an experienced political action committee (PAC) and grassroots manager, will join United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association's staff in November to serve as grassroots political coordinator. In this position, Simmons will be responsible for the grassroots and political action committee functions of United, serving to develop and implement the association's political activities on behalf of United members. She will additionally be responsible for the management of United's FreshPAC and the development of United's Produce Industry Grassroots Action Network outreach programs with industry members. The creation of this new position at United steps up the focus on political development and grassroots strength within the produce industry and Washington, D.C.

Simmons brings with her several years of experience in PAC and grassroots management for Allegiance Telecom, as well as experience working for Rep. James Rogan, R-Calif. At Allegiance, she was responsible for the initiation of PAC and grassroots efforts for over 4,200 Allegiance employees across the country. A native of Pasadena, Simmons is a graduate of Marquette University and is currently pursuing her graduate certificate in PAC and political management at George Washington University. "Corie brings to United a strong understanding of grassroots advocacy and political fundraising strategies, as well as legislative experience," said Robert Guenther, United v.p., public policy.

"We're delighted to welcome Corie to United's team, reinforcing our association's critical role in developing political strategy to reach the policy goals of the produce industry," said Tom Stenzel, United president and c.e.o. "Corie's addition continues to build upon our strong team of professionals to serve United member companies and allied associations."
