Osco Drug Pharmacists Vote to Join Teamsters

Twenty pharmacists at Osco Drug locations operated by West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw’s Supermarkets throughout Maine have voted to become members of Teamsters Local 340.

"We will work tirelessly, providing them with the best representation to improve their working conditions and negotiate a strong contract that puts their rights and protections on paper," said Local 340 President Brett Miller.

"Labor is under attack in our great state,” added Ed Marzano, an organizer for Local 340. "Now more than ever, workers are uniting to have a voice at the table. Osco pharmacists delivered that message loud and clear by voting for Teamster representation."

Shaw's is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boise, Idaho-based AB Acquisition LLC (Albertsons).

South Portland, Maine-based Teamsters Local 340 represents about 3,800 workers in both the public and private sectors. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, based in Washington, D.C., represents 1.4 million workers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
