NTF Presents White House With Thanksgiving 'Biscuits'

WASHINGTON - President George W. Bush and National Turkey Federation (NTF) chairman John O'Carroll continued a 57-year-old holiday tradition as O'Carroll presented the president with the National Thanksgiving Turkey yesterday.

O'Carroll presented Bush with "Biscuits," a 22-week-old, 45-pound tom. The turkey's name was chosen by visitors to the White House Web site, who voted on their favorite names for the National Thanksgiving Turkey and its alternate.

At the ceremony at the White House Rose Garden, Bush "pardoned" the National Thanksgiving Turkey and its alternate. Both birds were raised in Mathias, W.Va., under the supervision of O'Carroll, president of Wichita, Kan.-based Cargill's Value Added Meats.
