N.G.A. Holds Board Elections at Convention

The National Grocers Association (N.G.A.) elected seven new board members and re-elected eight board members to its board of directors at the Arlington, Va.-based trade association's 2011 Annual Convention and Supermarket Synergy Showcase currently underway at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Retailer members elected to the board were Spencer Coates, president, Houchens Industries, Inc.; Richard McMenamin, president, McMenamin Family ShopRite; and Cheryl Sommer, president, Kaune's Neighborhood Market.

New wholesalers elected to the board were•Richard Wyckoff, EVP sales & marketing/CCO, C&S Wholesale Grocers, and Bill Donahoe, president and COO, Foodtown Inc.

Also newly elected to the board were state association executive Brandon Scholz, president and CEO, Wisconsin Grocers Association, and manufacturer/service supplier Steve Latham, SVP strategic alliance accounts food and drug, First Data Corp.

Retailers re-elected to the board are Roger Collins, chairman and CEO, Harp's Food Stores Inc.; Gerard Norkus, president, Norkus Enterprises Inc.; Trygve Solberg, chairman, T.A. Solberg Co. Inc.; and Michael Stone, president and CEO/founder, Mollie Stone's Market.

Wholesalers re-elected to board are Randy Arceneaux, CEO/COO, Affiliated Foods Inc.; Jerry Garland, president and CEO, Associated Wholesale Grocers; and Jim Ried, president, Olean Wholesale Grocery Cooperative.

Additionally re-elected to the board was manufacturers/service supplier Van Sapp, SVP, PepsiCo Inc.

Outgoing board members were Jay Lawrence, president, Lawrence Brothers; Larry Collins, president, Collins Family Markets; Dean Sonnenberg, president and CEO, URM Stores Inc;• Michael Bozzuto, chairman, president and CEO, Bozzuto’s Inc.; Martin Arter, president, Affiliated Foods Midwest; Kathy Kuzava, president, Georgia Food Industry Association; and Jerry Brown, VP, industry & customer development, Unilever.
