NEW Posthumously Honors Tom Crawford with Hedy Halpert Award

CHICAGO - The Network of Executive Women has posthumously awarded Tom Crawford, an early NEW supporter and founder of the Leadership Network Corporation, the 2006 Hedy Halpert Diversity Awareness Award.

The award was presented to his widow, Tammy Crawford, and representatives of the Leadership Network Corp. Nov. 7 at the 2006 Outlook Conference in Phoenix.

Crawford -- founder, chairman, and c.e.o. of the Leadership Network -- died July 2 in a mountain biking accident in Utah at the age of 51.

"Tom was one of our very earliest supporters," said NEW executive director Joan Toth. "He gave us our first stage time back in 2001. He believed in us and gave us every opportunity to gather sponsors and members and further our growth. His vision and that of Leadership Network Corporation president David Jobe was greater than ours. When we had our first annual event they were the only men in the audience but they believed in the power of the Network."

The Hedy Halpert Diversity Awareness Award was created to honor the late Hedy Halpert, a founding member of the Network and publisher of several industry publications

The Leadership Network Corporation organizes executive networking industry conferences, including the Convenience Retailing and Outlook Leadership conference.
