New Jersey Union Launches Child ID Program in Grocery Stores
WEST BERLIN, N.J. - A Berlin, New Jersey-based labor union, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1360, on Friday launched the Family First ID program at a Shop Rite store. This free service will be provided at many local grocery stores over the next few weeks.
The Family First ID is a law enforcement tool that contains all the information that police need to begin a search for a missing child, including digital fingerprints, dental records and a DNA sample.
UFCW Local 1360 officers said they look forward to the positive impacts that this can have on the community. "There's nothing more important than safeguarding the lives of our children," said UFCW Local 1360 President Clay Bowman. "No parent should have to undergo the terrible torment that we've seen recently in headlines across the nation. By sponsoring the Family First ID program, our local union is taking a positive step that we believe will protect our children and make our local communities safer."
UFCW Local 1360 represents 10,000 workers in the retail, service, health care and government service fields in southern New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
