NCBA Names New PR Firm

DENVER - The National Cattlemen's Beef Association based here has appointed Midan Marketing, LLC, as its new public relations agency of record for its retail marketing department. The Chicago-based Midan has also served as NCBA's Retail Marketing program agency of record since 2004.

With offices in Chicago, Ill., and Washington, D.C., work conducted by NCBA's retail marketing department is funded by the Beef Checkoff Program. Working with the state beef councils, NCBA creates and implements beef promotion, education and research programs on behalf of the Beef Checkoff Program, established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill.

The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.

Midan Marketing, LLC, is a full-service marketing and communications firm headed by principals Michael Uetz and Danette Amstein.
