National Pork Board Promo Beats the Winter ‘Blah’s’

The National Pork Board has launched a new retail promotion designed to encourage consumers to break their meal-planning boredom and incorporate pork into such cold-weather comfort foods like chili, pot roast, casseroles and slow-cooker dishes.

The promotion runs through March 2013 and features materials that carry the tagline “Be Amazing,” a variation of the “Be Inspired” messaging designed to appeal to today’s pork consumer. In-store elements include a poster, meat case sign, and recipe brochure with five easy-to-prepare pork recipes.

“Our goal with this promotion is to remind consumers that pork tastes amazing in winter comfort foods, and is versatile and simple to cook,” said Patrick Fleming, director of retail marketing for the Des Moines, Iowa-based National Pork Board. “Our in-store posters and meat case signs feature mouthwatering pork meals that consumers can easily create at home using our recipe brochure.”

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, technology, swine health, pork safety and environmental management.
