NACDS Assembles Advisory Board for Members

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) last week created a NACDS Advisory Board, a new committee formed to reflect the diverse interests of the NACDS membership base.

Consisting of 31 associate members and nine retailers with subcommittees on membership, issues and research, and meetings and conferences, the advisory board's leadership will focus on front-end issues and encourage member participation and the development of programs that will be beneficial to all members of NACDS.

"The creation of the advisory board has provided the industry with a unique forum for issue development and resolution," said Craig Fuller, president and c.e.o. of NACDS. "We are confident that by working cohesively with our members through this new board and utilizing their knowledge and expertise, we will best meet industry needs and goals."

The mission of the advisory board is to advise and provide recommendations on key industry issues. The group will also serve as a link between the NACDS board of directors and associate members by obtaining input and assistance from the active NACDS membership base to bring to the forefront issues of importance for the chain drug store industry.

Joe Bivona, vice president, customer development, Time Warner Retail will serve as chairman of the steering committee; Paul Nunnari, v.p., trade development, Johnson & Johnson, is the vice chairman.

The committee chairs include: Peter Thompson, director, trade development, Colgate-Palmolive Co Inc., membership subcommittee; Roland Regnier, v.p., corporate development, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, issues and research subcommittee; and Ethan Charas, e.v.p., Stratmar Retail Services, meetings and conferences subcommittee.

Members of the advisory board will meet formally twice a year -- in 2005, during the NACDS Marketplace conference and in conjunction with the December NACDS Foundation Dinner. Subcommittees will meet throughout the year as they develop and implement their respective projects.
