The Minnesota Grocers Association named Tom Buysee, owner of Tom’s Markets, with locations in Glenwood and Starbuck, Minn., as its 2016 Outstanding Grocer. MGA presented Buysee with its award, which is bestowed annually to one grocer who has successfully grown the business and respect of industry peers, at its recent annual conference in Brainerd, Minn.
Jim Brigg, manager for Central Minnesota/Western Wisconsin branch of 7up/Snapple Bottling Group in South St. Paul, Minn., was named the 2016 Outstanding Vendor. The honor is presented to those who show innovation in customer support, excellence in customer service and involvement in MGA.
The association also inducted Janel Haugarth, who retired from Supervalu last year, into the MGA Hall of Fame in recognition of her service and exemplary contributions to the state’s food industry. Haugarth also was presented with the National Grocer’s Industry Service Leadership Award.
