Mexico's Gigante to Expand U.S. Retail Presence
MONTERREY, Mexico - Mexican grocery giant Grupo Gigante has said it expects to open three stores in the Los Angeles area this year, bringing its total U.S. store count to seven.
The company has been launching one store per year in the United States since 1999.
"There was always an intention to grow at a faster pace, but for one reason or another it hasn't been possible. Now we're maintaining the intention to expand," Manuel Cullen, investor relations manager at Gigante, said late Thursday. "We've learned, and results are coming quickly."
