Merger Talks Between Molson and Adolph Coors Intensify

NEW YORK - Although merger talks between brewers Molson and Adolph Coors Co. are reportedly heating up, negotiations are at a sensitive stage and could fall apart, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Terms of a possible deal still are being discussed. One possibility calls for Molson chairman Eric Molson to be named chairman of the combined company, while Coors c.e.o. Leo Kiely could be c.e.o., according to the WSJ.

A shareholder agreement between Ian and Eric Molson forbids either from selling or transferring their voting shares without the consent of the other. The two brewers already work together on distribution agreements.
