Meijer in Running for Retail Advertising Award

GRAND RAPIDS Mich. -- Meijer Inc. here is among the finalists for two gold awards, in the Retail Advertising & Marketing Association's (RAMA) 2006 Retail Award for Creativity innovation and excellence (RACie).

Meijer is the only supermarket chain named as a finalist for the most coveted award in retail advertising. RACie Award finalists were selected by a distinguished panel of top advertising executives in the retail industry. The final judging will occur live at RAMA's Retail Advertising Conference, Feb. 8-10.

"Meijer's is in the running for the gold in both the outdoor campaign and radio spot categories," Mike Gatti, e.v.p. of the Washington, D.C.-based RAMA told Progressive Grocer. Gatti added that with this year's fierce competition, the winners "will have the honor of being recognized as the best in the industry when it comes to building retail brand awareness and loyalty."

Other 2006 RACie Award finalists include Best Buy, Buca Di Beppo, Build-A-Bear, Home Depot, Kohl's, Linens N Things, Marshall Fields, the Minnesota Twins, Staples, and Target.

The Retail Advertising & Marketing Association (RAMA), a division of the National Retail Federation, is a trade association of over 1,500 retail marketing and advertising executives, plus their supporting partners from the advertising agency, media and service-provider areas.
