Meijer Michigan Stores to Host 23 Bank One Branches

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- In the biggest expansion in its Michigan history, Bank One will open 23 new full-service branches in Meijer stores here and in the metro Detroit area by the end of the year.

The first seven branches in Meijer stores opened during December in Ann Arbor, Greenville, Ionia, Rochester Hills, Westland, Woodhaven and Wyoming, Mich., all of which offer a full-range of banking services, from checking accounts to mortgages and investment services.

"We're pleased that partnering with Bank One will bring more services and convenience to our customers," said Lynn Richardson, real estate manager of Meijer. "Our customers benefit when we join forces with strong brands like Bank One and Chase."

The branches will be located at the front of the Meijer stores, and will be easy to find for shoppers, many of whom shop at the stores two or three times a week. Like each store's greeters, Meijer customers soon will recognize Bank One's personal bankers, who help customers with checking and savings accounts and investments, the bank company said. The Meijer locations will offer extended hours on both weekdays and Saturdays. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Meijer bank branches will also have a 24-hour ATM.

The family-owned Meijer chain operates 171 grocery and general merchandise supercenters throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio. Bank One and Chase operate 200 branches in supermarkets mostly in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana and Texas.
