Mediator to Restart Talks in Calif. Grocery Strike

NEW YORK - Talks aimed at resolving the ongoing southern California supermarket strike will start again this Saturday following a 10-day recess for the parties to reconsider their positions, a mediator said on Thursday, according to Reuters.

Peter Hurtgen, director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, said his organization was "working hard to bring the parties together" and the next round of talks would continue for "as long as is appropriate."

Hurtgen adjourned an earlier two-day round of talks on Nov. 12. At that time he said negotiating parties needed more time to reflect upon various issues regarding the dispute.
