Martin’s Appoints In-store Nutritionist

Martin’s Food Markets has hired Elisabeth D’Alto as its in-store nutritionist at the grocer's Eldersburg, Md., location. D’Alto will advise customers on healthy eating while they shop, offer one-on-one nutrition consultations, present health-related classes and lead Kid Healthy Ideas store tours. She will also take part in future health-related events in the surrounding community.

Martin’s is committed to providing customers with the information they need to achieve healthier lifestyles and having an in-store nutritionist like Elisabeth is a valuable resource in helping customers make better choices as they navigate the grocery aisles,” noted John MacDonald, the banner’s director of marketing and external communications.

D’Alto (above) brings more than seven years of dietetic experience to her new role. Her most recent position was clinical dietitian with Genesis Healthcare at the Cromwell Center in Baltimore. D’Alto also owns D’Alto Nutrition LLC, a nutrition communications and consulting company, and is the newsletter editor for the Dietitians in Business and Communications, a dietetic practice group of the Chicago-based Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as the 2013-2015 communications chair for the Maryland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Further, she has worked with several senior-living and long-term care facilities as a registered dietitian. D’Alto has additionally received recognition from the New Jersey Dietetic Association as its 2012 Young Dietitian of the Year Award.

Giant/Martin’s, based in Carlisle, Pa., operates 200 grocery stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets banners.
