Marsh Donates $60K to Project 9/11 Indy
Marsh Supermarkets Inc. has committed $60,000 in support of Project 9/11 Indianapolis, a permanent memorial that commemorates the events of Sept. 11, 2001, and features two steel beams from the World Trade Center.
The memorial was scheduled to be dedicated in a ceremony held at its Indianapolis location on Sunday.
“Marsh is honored to lend its support to this important civic project, which is both a monument to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and to those brave men and women who were part of the search and rescue efforts in the crucial days following those events,” said Joe Kelley, Marsh chairman, CEO and president. “In addition to our financial contribution, Marsh associates donated their time to raise money for the project by volunteering at an Indiana State Fair booth where they sold custom designed Project 9/11 postcards and commemorative t-shirts generously supplied by the Indianapolis Fire Department. That effort raised over $23,500, all of which went to benefit this important memorial.”
Indianapolis-based Marsh operates 70 Marsh stores, including three O’Malia’s Supermarkets and 27 MainStreet Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 40 Indiana pharmacy locations.
