Lucky's to Add 6 More Fla. Stores

Lucky's Market plans to open at least six new stores in Florida over the next 18 months, following the opening of six Sunshine State locations in 2016.

The stores to open will be located in Sarasota, Panama City and Oakland Park this summer; Port St. Lucie in late 2017; Bonita Springs in early 2018; and St. Petersburg in summer 2018. The six that opened in 2016 are among the eight total the grocer opened that year.

Lucky's concept includes a wide variety of specialty foods such as in-house smoked bacon; house-made sausages; fresh seafood; fresh, local produce; cheese islands stocked with offerings from around the world; and a decadent bakery. The in-house butcher sells meats that have never been treated with antibiotics or artificial growth hormones, and ready-to-eat meals made from scratch daily inside the store, along with fresh grab-and-go sushi items, can be purchased.

The concept also includes juice bars, bulk foods, apothecary departments, beer and wine departments, cafe areas, and a Sip 'n Stroll program that lets customers grab a $2 pint of local beer or a $3 glass of wine to enjoy while they shop.

Lucky's Market, based in Niwot, Colo., operates 23 stores in 11 states.
