Lidl Selects N.C. as Base for Regional Distribution Center
On the heels of revealing it will house its American corporate offices in Virginia, European retailer Lidl, which is preparing to expand into the United States by 2018, will open a regional headquarters and distribution center facility in Alamance County, N.C.
One of the largest retailers in the world, Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany-based Lidl operates almost 10,000 stores in European 26 countries throughout Europe. The company's markets carry fresh meat, produce and bakery items, in addition to many household goods, at low prices.
Brendan Proctor, president and CEO of Lidl US, thanked North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory and Alamance County leaders for their help in bringing the retailer to the region. "We are honored to work with them to lay the groundwork for Lidl's success in the United States," said Proctor, who last month revealed that the company would establish its U.S. corporate headquarters and regional facilities in Virginia.
