LeBlanc’s Opens Frais Marche Supermarket in Baton Rouge

LeBlanc’s Food Stores will open a Frais Marche supermarket in Baton Rouge, La., on March 31. This is the independent retailer’s ninth location in the state, but its first in the city. 

The shopping center location was expanded to 30,000 square feet and completely revamped with new flooring, electrical and mechanical work. Each LeBlanc store is tailored to fit its community.

“We are definitely comfortable and love the smaller communities we’re in, but Baton Rouge is one location that our family has always wanted to be able to be a part of,” stated Brooke LeBlanc Knight, director of corporate communications for LeBlanc’s Food Stores. “Offering a Frais Marche in the Drusilla area is a great introduction for us into Baton Rouge, and we’re excited to continue to offer competitive prices, quality products and great customer service.”

The Frais Marche or "fresh market" concept was first introduced at the Duplessis store more than a year ago. The stores offer healthy options like fresh, organic produce, ground peanut butter, sushi, salad and a fruit bar as well as fresh squeezed juices. A concierge service also is available to help shoppers with special orders and catering.

The first LeBlanc’s Food Store opened in 1961 and the company is still family owned by brothers Marcy LeBlanc and Randy LeBlanc. In addition to the new Baton Rouge store, other locations include Donaldsonville, Duplessis, Gonzales, Hammond, Plaquemine, Plattenville, Prairieville and Zachary.
