Kroger, Thomson to Launch In-House Training Network
CINCINATTI - The Kroger Co. here and Thomson SA are developing a distance-learning network that will allow the grocery chain to provide on-demand, interactive employee training in all of its stores.
Convergent Media Systems Corp., a unit of Thomson's Technicolor Network Services business, will develop and manage the system that will include a broadcast studio and satellite uplinks, as well as distance-learning equipment in every store nationwide, including those operated by Kroger subsidiaries. The system in scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2007.
Alpharetta, Ga.-based Convergent manages a similar network for Kroger's multi-department stores in the Pacific Northwest region.
