Kroger Mid-Atlantic Said Going Smoke-Free Nov. 1

If you’re a smoker, you’d better get ready to refrain from lighting up on the grounds of the Kroger Co.’s Roanoke, Vir.-based Mid-Atlantic division.

That’s because as of Nov. 1, all of the facilities associated with the division will become smoke-free, according to local press reports. "This includes a 20-feet distance to and from all entrance and exits, including the back dock delivery area,” the division said in a letter to the grocer’s vendors.

“While we expect all of our associates to abide by this policy, we expect the same courtesy and compliance from our customers and suppliers alike,” said Jay Cummins, president of the division.

Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division operates 129 stores in North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
