Kroger Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts

CINCINNATI - The Kroger Co. yesterday recalled two ice cream products from three divisions because the items may contain undeclared peanut material. Customers who are allergic or extremely sensitive to peanuts run the risk of severe or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat these products.

The recalled products are:

-Half-gallon containers of Country Club Vanilla Ice Cream with the UPC number 11110-51810 and a sell-by date of "JAN 29 05A (Plant 18-1080)." The product was sold only in Michigan.

-Half-gallon containers of Kroger Sugar Free Rocky Road Ice Cream with the UPC number 11110-50533 and a sell-by date of "JAN 29 05A (Plant 18-1080)." This product may have been distributed to stores in Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee (except for the Nashville and Knoxville metro areas), Mississippi, Arkansas, southwestern and southeastern Kentucky, southeast Missouri, and southeast Ohio.

Immediately after the recall was announced, Kroger began removing the products from store shelves. Customers are being advised to return these products to stores, for a full refund.
