Kroger Chairman to Retire
CINCINNATI - The Kroger Co. today announced that its chairman of the board, Joseph A. Pichler, will retire on June 24, 2004, the date of the company's annual shareholders meeting. As previously announced, the board of directors plans to elect David B. Dillon, Kroger's c.e.o., to the additional position of chairman.
Pichler, 64, served as chairman and c.e.o. from 1990 until 2003, when Dillon, 52, was appointed c.e.o.
"Kroger's future is in good hands," Pichler said of the announcement.
