Kristi Magnuson Nelson Named to NGA Board

Kristi Magnuson Nelson, president of Hugo’s Family Marketplace, headquartered in Grand Forks, N.D., has been named to the board of directors of the National Grocers Association.

 “We are pleased to have Kristi representing the Red River Valley on this board,” said a Hugo’s representative. “Our communities and the industry are well served with her leadership.”

Magnuson Nelson is the third generation to run the family-owned company with 10 supermarkets and 5 liquor stores in North Dakota and Minnesota. The business was founded by Magnuson Nelson’s grandparents, Hugo and Dorothy Magnuson, who opened a grocery store in 1939.

She also received the 2014 NGA Spirit of America Award and in 2015, she was honored with the North Dakota Grocer of the Year award. Magnuson Nelson also serves on the board for the local Prairie Harvest Foundation, The Grand Forks and East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce, the North Dakota Grocers Association and the Minnesota Grocers Association.
