Kmart Completes Four SuperCenter Expansions In Indianapolis

TROY, Mich. - Kmart Corp. on Thursday announced the expansion of four Big Kmart stores to Kmart SuperCenters in Indianapolis, Indiana. The stores are the first Kmart SuperCenters in the Indianapolis market and will make their official "re-grand" opening on July 20.

Kmart SuperCenters combine the general merchandise selection of a traditional Kmart with a full-service grocery store 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each of the remodeled Indianapolis stores added more than 25,000 square feet of retail space with only minimal physical change to the store's actual structure, according to the company.

"The opening of four Kmart SuperCenters in Indianapolis is a significant step for Kmart at this time," said Julian Day, president and COO. "In addition to being a great benefit to consumers in the area, it demonstrates that Kmart is making forward progress, continuing to focus our efforts on improving the shopping experience for our valued customers. This is an emphatic statement that Kmart remains a strong force in retail in Indiana."
