Judy Spires Returns to Acme Markets As New President
MALVERN, Pa. -- Judy Spires has been named president of Albertsons Inc.'s 134-store Acme Markets eastern division here.
Acme, the Philadelphia area market leader, is among the Albertsons chains being purchased by Supervalu Inc., of Minneapolis as part of a three-way, $9.7 billion deal announced last month. Spires, who began her 35-year supermarket career with Acme, had most recently been president of the Dallas-Fort Worth Albertsons division, which an investing group is acquiring as part of the same deal. That same group is buying Albertsons' Florida stores, which are also part of the eastern division.
Carl Jablonski, who had been president of Acme Markets since 2000 and of Albertsons' eastern division since 2004, was recently appointed president of the company's 210-store Shaw's and Star Market division in New England.
