Jennifer Carr-Smith Named President of Peapod

Ahold USA has named Jennifer Carr-Smith as president and general manager of its e-commerce delivery service Peapod, effective June 15. Carr-Smith succeeds Andrew Parkinson, who will continue in an advisory role.

Bringing more than 20 years of e-commerce experience to the position, Carr-Smith most recently served as COO of J. Crew's online business. She also has held executive positions with omni-channel retailer Giggle, Gilt Groupe, Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. and Drugstore.com.

Parkinson, who is a co-founder of Peapod, will serve as an advisor to Carr-Smith while pursuing new business development opportunities for the division. He most recently led the creation of Peapod's “Pick-Up Points," and championed the opening of Peapod Propulsion Labs, a digital innovation center in Chicago.

van Dam lauded Parkinson for his "pioneering vision to cultivate technology in order to make grocery shopping easier and more convenient for our customers."

Ahold USA operates Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover, and Giant Carlisle, which together operate approximately 770 supermarkets in 14 states and the District of Columbia, along with Peapod.
