Instacart Expands in Phoenix, Enters Knoxville

Third-party grocery delivery service Instacart has expanded service in the Phoenix area and also moved into the Knoxville, Tenn., region, serving a total of almost 800,000 more households in both areas.

In the Phoenix area, service is expanding to Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Buckeye, Apache Junction, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Sun City, El Mirage, San Tan Valley and Fountain Hills. More than 680,000 Phoenix and East Valley households in 65 ZIP codes can now order from such grocers as Bashas’, Costco, Natural Grocers, Whole Foods Market, Fry’s, Smart & Final, and Safeway.

Meanwhile, Knoxville-area service is coming to Knoxville, Aldenwood Park, Knox County, Woodland Acres, Farragut, Concord, Amherst, Wooded Acres, Solway, Karns and Wood Creek West. More than 108,000 households in 28 ZIP codes can order from such grocers as Publix, Whole Foods Market, Costco and Kroger.

Customers use the Instacart website or app to create their shopping lists from their favorite local stores, and Instacart connects them with shoppers who handpick the items on their lists and deliver them straight to their homes. Groceries are delivered in as little as one hour, and first-time users can enter a special code – PHXHELLO for Phoenix and HELLKNOX for Knoxville – to get $25 off an order of $35 or more, plus free first-time delivery.

Based in San Francisco, Instacart has set a goal of launching in more than 100 new markets in 2017. Last month, it revealed plans to serve 80 percent of American households by 2018.
